Is it ever worth your while to purchase a phone from a foreign market, if it's not or won't be available in your own?

I am seriously considering purchasing the Galaxy Note from outside the US, prior to it's debut here. I'm just not sure if I can

You need to check to see what frequency bands the phone uses for its data and cellular connection. This past summer I really wanted a Samsung Galaxy S II. I checked out the bands the phone uses, and found out it was compatible with AT&T's 3G/"4G" network. I bought the phone from an overseas company (Expansys) and once I received it I took it to an AT&T store and got a new SIM card and the phone worked perfectly.

You're going to be paying significantly more for the phone because it's both out of contract (i.e. not subsidized by a carrier) and because it is more than likely rare (which adds usually $100+).

But, if you really like the phone, and it works with your carrier, there's no reason you can't do it.

Good luck!

I imported the N80, E51, and GT-i9000. No major issues.

As the N7000 is quad band 3G it should be OK on ATT.

Amazon.de is pretty cheap now but they will not ship to USA and VAT refund is a nightmare.

The price has been as low as 500 Euro the last week, and some shop in Hamburg had a "Door Buster" at 450 Euro.

Have any friends in Hamburg? I think another shop still has it for 500 Euro.

Looks like 517 Euro right now.
