Is it actually worth to buy an Xbox now?

I mean it's been out for quite some time... I mean it came out in 2005. Should i wait for the 8th generation or buy one of these?

Yes it is ok to but now. If you wait you will be waiting a long time. The Xbox is on a 10 year cycle so a new one is not expected until 2014/15. Same story with PlayStation. Kinect is Microsoft's way of extending the life with new features there was a recent software update to Xbox that will allow for new disc formats that hold more data which will help improve game graphics and other things. There will be an Xbox live update in November which will allow the new Xbox live tv service and give it the metro styled UI like windows phone and windows 8. If your a windows phone user your phone will soon be turned into a media remote for tour Xbox allowing you to select video and content from your network and have it play on your 360

I don't disagree with the advice, but Microsoft's announced intentions for the Xbox 360 are not guarantees of anything. There is nothing preventing Microsoft from releasing a next generation Xbox whenever they feel like it. They probably won't - for all the reasons already mentioned.

However, what was not mentioned is the possible introduction of new accessory/game bundles or even new models (e.g. the Elite). Also, what about seasonal or supply related price drops? If money is tight, why not wait to see if there are deals to be had during the holiday shopping season? And there is always the possibility of a post-holiday sale. However, if money isn't tight, I see no reason to wait.

Not worth it. Too many hidden expenses. Xbox live, controllers that don't come with rechargeable battery packs, proprietary hard drives and proprietary head sets.

Also, you need a bigass room for Kinect to work. It definitely looks cool, but I've heard its an underwhelming experience.

The rumors of integration with Verizon and Comcast TV are exciting, but until it comes to fruit, who knows what it can actually be used for.
