Is Hulu Plus on Roku the same as Hulu Plus on the Web?

I love my Roku. I use it primarily for Netflix and MLB.tv. Someone told me yesterday that the programming offered by Hulu Plus on Roku is much more limited than what is offered on the Web. Is that true? What exactly is the difference?

Unfortunately, it is not the same content. A lot of content is restricted to web only. Some shows like Community, which ironically is an NBC show (who owns Hulu), can't be viewed on mobile devices or settop boxes. I don't know the percentage, but in my experience, Hulu Plus isn't worth it, especially if you have a DVR. I've also had issues with Hulu videos stalling while watching on the Roku and crashing my XDS (not an issue with other channels) and I know I'm not the only one that's had this issue with this channel. There also isn't a real easy way to check what content is deemed "settop and mobile worthy".

It is different, because of agreements with studios some content can not be offered on settop devices. However a most of the content is still there.

Most of the content on the web is available on other devices. I know there are some shows, or episodes that are web only, but very few. You still have to sit through commercials too.

Why the content providers continue to differentiate between platforms is beyond me. This is the reason I don't have Hulu. I'd rather use my slingbox and dvr.

Technically No, Hulu on the web is not Hulu plus. Hulu plus pertains to the ability to stream video to another on-line device. But many of the videos that are on the Hulu website, are not available on Hulu plus.

There is alot less on hulu plus than on hulu web, not to mention hulu web is free and hulu plus is $8/month and still has commercials. It all boils down to the cable companies, if you notice most of the content you can watch over they air with an antenna hooked to your TV you can watch on hulu plus ( this is not an absolute but its more correct than not) If you need a cable subscription to watch the show chances are it won't be on Hulu plus. To give you an example Modern Family is very popular and on Hulu plus, it broadcasts on ABC, but "Its always Sunny" is on FX a cable only channel and is web only, same with USA shows like burn notice, white collar and, royal pains. Buy you will find some cable shows the networks are trying to promote like "In Plain Sight" a USA show.
To the Question of if its worth it, if you are cutting cable out of your life then yes hulu plus is well worth $8 a months, if you are using a roku or boxee to make your cable subscription better, then your better of getting a DVR.
My goal is to build a low power pc for my living room TV, to access web hulu and some of the cable channel web published content and use my roku and Wii in my other rooms as I've given up on paying for cable/dish
