Is anyone working on a WP7 PMP that is not a phone?

I know that Zune is not getting any new hardware, and I'm a fan, so i keep looking around for a deal on a WP7 that I could use as just a PMP with the benefits of Live and Zune over wifi, but everything runs $500. I like using android as my phone, but love my Zune as PMP, plus i like keeping my player separate from my phone. Wouldn't it make sense for some company to make this kind of thing?

Not as far as anyone knows. Right now Microsoft has some pretty strict requirements on hardware specs for WP7 devices that basically only let OEMs make phones. Hopefully they'll open things up at some future point. I'm a Zune fan as well, and it's a little disappointing that we won't see a Zune HD2.

Personally, I think Microsoft should do what Apple did with the iPod Touch and iPhone, and offer a Zune/WP7-powered PMP in addition to the WP7-powered phones. To my knowledge, however, no one is currently working on a WP7-powered PMP device.
