Yes, we are having problems as well. It synced at first, but didn’t continue to sync, plus it caused a kernel panic on my husband’s macbook pro. He has received an alternate installation package that includes some time of logging system so the Fitbit people can help him troubleshoot the problem. In investigating this problem, we have found a number of people dealing with the same issue, although there are mac users who seem to be having no problem. We are still trying to get to the bottom of whatever is causing the problem because he loves the product (got it 12/31/11) and wants to be able to use it.

Running OS X Lion (10.7.2) I have issues with sync failing after the first couple of syncs (both via the dock and wirelessly). The only way to get it to sync again is by restarting my Mac. I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when/why the sync fails, but it seems to be after extended periods of inactivity on my machine in which I have to wake it up from a sleep or deactivate the screensaver.

I have reached out to Fitbit and they're sending a new tracker, but I suspect it won't fix anything as it's likely a software issue (free Fitbit ftw!).

I have not had any issues with getting things installed or syncing, however it seems to be the culprit of my Mac being unable to complete a shutdown. Apparently the daemon that runs spawns up again after it's killed as part of the shutdown process, which keeps preventing the system from shutting down/rebooting. It basically hangs on the gray screen. Quite annoying.

I've have tons of issues with Leopard (I'm not running Lion at home yet)... I gave up on the Macbook Pro (and before, the 2011 Air)... and hooked it up to my Mac Mini and I haven't had any issues. It really seemed like there was a high probability that if the macbook went to sleep that the syncing would break... for whatever reason, that is not the case with the Mini.

I actually posted about this quite awhile ago... the fixes I posted helped me but not permanently.

I have had the same problem as @barkerja... the sync would fail after a couple of times... usually after coming out of sleep mode. A reboot typically solved this. Having to reboot your Mac in order for this device to work seemed a silly solution. That's beauty of having a Mac, not having to shutdown all the time. But recently, even that didn't work.

It turned out that my USB hub was the culprit. After plugging the FitBit base station into my iMac directly, it has worked without problems. *keeping my fingers crossed*
