Question about

Is anyone else finding their iPhone 3G on iOS 4 extra laggy and a little buggy? It's getting to the point that the phone is becoming hard to use.

It will freeze or bug out of menus and apps and the lag is horrible. When I type it's driving me nuts.

I'm doing a restore of my iPhone right now because in the past I have heard that helps, but honestly my phone is no longer the same user experience it was when I first bought it two years ago. I do plan on upgrading to a iPhone 4 at some point, but what happened along the way to make my current phone so slow?

I just updated to 4.0.1 and response times seem to have improved.

I completely agree with you... My 3G had gotten so bad over the time that I had had OS4 installed. I was constantly restarting, it was constantly crashing and freezing, and at that point I wish I hadn't "upgraded". Plus I feel as if it was the same as OS3... There were menial differences and I really hope there will be an update to fix that. The lag needs to go.
Currently, I am awaiting a 4 that is on it's way(!)... I hope there is a way to fix a 3G though, as I consistently help others with their iPhones. :)
Thank you for your help, and I'll let everyone know if I encounter anything helpful.

Yeah, from a number of friends and some other gdgt users who've installed iOS 4 on their iPhone 3G's, I'm hearing that the experience leaves a lot to be desired - and the phone just gets super sluggish. It's pretty frustrating.

If you have a Mac, there is a convoluted way that one could downgrade back to OS 3, so I suppose that's an option if things don't work out. That's pretty annoying to have to do though.

Anyway, let us know if the performance improves after you restore!
