Question about
Is Android smartphone + iPad the optimal phone + tablet combination?
This is a followup question to "Android smartphone + iOS tablet or the otherwise?" [1] The consensus there is Android phone + iPad, with the premise of having one device for each platform
However, is it the optimal without the given premise? Would you prefer Android or iOS (or whatever) for both phone + tablet over any other roster?

I have a Verizon HTC Droid Incredible paired with my ipad. It works very well in terms of access to 3G data but does have drawbacks. It is one extra step to get 3G data and battery life drains down quickly. But I do like the apps better in an ipad than on an iphone. So I have no regrets. I felt that the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible is a better phone compared to iphone 3GS (at the time of purchase) and I do get better reception, Camera function on the Droid Incredible is also much better. Overall, I don't regret my current combination.....

I would prefer (and am planning on by winter) to have an android tablet to go with my Google Nexus One. I feel like it just makes sense to have the seamless transition between device functionality. There are a lot of apps that are available on both iOS and Android but the user experience isn't the same. That would frustrate me quite a bit I feel. I also don't have a mac and use mostly Google applications within Chrome on my current laptop to give a little background.
Looking at the current Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 I'm really impressed. It's especially nice that Samsung is shipping it with stock Android and allowing users to upgrade to Touchwiz 4.0 at a later date. I'll probably end up rooting it though so it's not a big deal. I'm not sure if I want to grab the larger size or wait to see if the 8.9 is better to hold. The number of choices I am given with Android have and always will appeal to me more than the small, exclusive number of Apple products.

you say you want the "optimal phone + tablet combination", you would have to define what you mean by optimal, but the best companion for an iPad will be an iPhone without a doubt, specially now with iCloud syncing all of your data and photos back and forward, if by "optimal" you mean most convenient to get things done as easy as possible, then that would be the way to go.
I´ve never spent more than a few minutes on any android device, but I do read a lot about the mobile industry and to me android doesn't seem like its ready to be a mainstream consumer device, I'm pretty tech savvy and still found it a bit complicated
I´m incredibly happy with my iPad 2 and iPhone 3GS combination, although the 3GS doesn't run as fast as it used to, specially now with ios5, so thats pretty much the only negative aspect of this combination, I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue with an iPhone 4 or 4s though, I'm personally waiting for the next one, i prefer the models when they test new a lot of new stuff rather than refine the existing device. hope my comments are helpful
