Question about
iPad2 to Apple TV (2nd Gen) to projector in classroom
I have an iPad 2 and an Apple TV. I would like to airplay from the iPad to the Apple TV. Then connect the Apple TV via hdmi to VGA connector to the rooms projection system. The rooms podium has a VGA jack that allows teachers with a laptop to connect into the projectors on the ceiling. So I am thinking I could get an hdmi to VGA cable and attache the Apple TV to the projection system and then leave it on the podium. Then I'd be able to walk around the room using my iPad during class. Is this possible? Anyone done it or a permutation of it?
I use this everyday in my theater classroom. If you haven't found a hdmi/VGA box, here you go.

I go wireless with my iPad out in the house and my kids see it on a 12ft screen. it has a huge range as well. I can mirror the camera in the back of my 528 seat house. We will be using it onstage in our upcoming musical as well. I hope you enjoy it!

off the top of my head i don't see why it wouldn't work.
let me know how it goes there are a lot of people with iPads in the office now and this may come in handy for them. they can just use airplay to share whats on their screen to the projector (thought the apple TV) with out having to connect the iPad to anything.

You can forget about using VGA in any meaningful way with Apple devices. The ONLY Apple product that will work is a macbook, using thunderbolt to vga adaptor, to projector. Even then, protected content will refuse to play. Also the Apple TV refuses to work with anything less than DVI, and also prevents most content if not using full HDMI connections. You would be better off having any laptop running at podium, and just remote control it with any number of tablet apps. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and I do love my Apple gear, but the lack of backwards compatibility makes me nuts.
