Question about
acaurora

In a device as small as this, is a subwoofer effective/necessary?

I understand that being the "media" edition to have an emphasis on sound, but I really do not know how effective or useful a subwoofer in a device this small will have an impact on it. I can understand if maybe it has SRS technologies for the headphone listening and upgraded speakers, but I highly doubt that anyone is going to be rocking out to Pandora, Rdio, Spotify, or local media on their tablet...

What do you think?

Regardless, I definitely do think this tablet is *the* one for my needs. Small, HD display, and dual core. Yep, yep, and definitely yep. Just needs to come to the USA with a reasonable price tag :)

In the end, it's marketing, plain and simple. The first Xoom was a dud, even amongst the geeks. Motorola needs to attract more lay people into buying tin and having a "subwoofer" is a catchy marketing tool for the lay people, just like "megapixels."

It is, by definition a "Subwoofer", and yes, it will make a difference, by allowing the smaller speakers in the tablet to deal with the Mids and Highs.

BUT, do not expect bone rattling bass like from a larger sound system. It's there to make things sound better. And to attract people who don't know better who will brag about it.

Your best bet to get decent sound out of any tablet would be a good pair of headphones.
