I've had my 2nd gen 24" iMac for about 3 months now and I'm just starting to notice ghost images on the screen especially with text.
I run spaces and if I switch desktops after using my browser for an hour or more to iPhoto for example I can see and read some of the text from safari on the grey iPhoto background. I also also use RDP to connect into my Windows laptop and work off of my iMac with the laptop lid closed. After working a full 8hrs I logged out of my laptop session and could see all the XP desktop icons burned into the iMac display.
After leaving the iMac in sleep mode overnight the image ghosting goes away but I'm seeing signs of this happening more often and I'm concerned its going to get worse.
Anyone have similar experiences to share and has anyone had Apple repair their iMac for the same problem. I never had this issue with my older 20" Aluminum iMac.
Question about
Image and text ghosting on iMac display
We use these machines in lecture theatres at my work and we get a different kind of ghosting. It only happens on the right-hand side of the screen, and goes away after restarting the system, that is, it goes away for a few weeks then comes back.
Here's a photo of what I'm talking about (taken with a cameraphone, sorry)

I'd say it is to do with the machines being left on continuously (they have to be, due to the environment they are in, but we only have this problem on about three or four computers (out of sixty or more)

Yes. This happens when the computer display is left to stagnate, and the computer starts to run hot. (Folding / handbrake)
Turn on your screen saver and energy saving options... consider measures to cool your machine better (maybe add a fan nearby to circulate more air around the back of the machine.)
