Question about
If I've got an iOS 5 iPhone + iPad, and I receive a SMS (regular one, through cellular) - Would it also appear on my iPad?
If it would happen - it would be highly useful... but I didn't manage to figure it out yet....
Any idea?

No, you'll only receive iMessages on your iPad. If someone sends you a regular old text message, it will only show up on your phone. The only messages you'l receive on your iPad are iMessages.

These are murky waters. Right now the simplest solution is to use a 3rd party application for text messages that is also ipad compatible. For most people it's just easier to use an app like 'text now' or similar. [Check out GV Mobile+ for a simple solution google voice powered app that will integrate well with sms across your iOS devices.]
For the more adventurous DIYer, if you configure google voice to forward your sms to an email address you can add that address to your apple id and choose to also receive imessages via that mechanism. Haven't had time to fully test this yet, but it seems like it's possible to integrate google voice with iMessages to completely obviate the need for traditional sms.

I have just realized, that even if you receive the SMS on the iPad, you wouldn't be able to respond (iPad doesn't send SMS). So I guess the answer would be negative.
