Question about
HJL

I work in IT, and for the most part, am toting around an ipad, a couple file folders, maybe a digital camera, and various other things.

I would love a slingbag or something nice to throw over my shoulder that I could store my ipad, and a few other small things. I dont want a backpack, and I dont want it to stick out. Almost like a messenger bag or something like that. Simple, easy and useful. Any recommendations?

I like this one and I have almost bought it a few times:

It's just canvas (black, brown, or tan) and looks really nondescript. It's not waterproof though so if that matters then maybe you'd want to look elsewhere.

At what point does it become a purse, I wonder.

I can be found occasionally toting the iPad in the small of my back - or draped over my ass, depending on your perspective - ( havenshop.ca/collections/acronym/products/gt-j19-g... ) Hey ma, no bag.

If that has a somewhat douchy flavour, Coteetciel has various bags for the typical Apple-addled brigade, both in the form of multipurpose ( www.coteetciel.com/vertical-tote-grey-melange-15.h... + others - look on site) and the iPad-specific purse you may have craved ( www.coteetciel.com/tablet-kit-bag-grey-melange.htm... ).

If you're more detailed in what you want, I can probably dig something up more specific.
Form factor, storage options, budget, your level of metro-ness, etc.

I've been particularly fond of Booq's line of bags. On the higher end of price but they have great durability.

I use the MEC Small Carry All Shoulder Bag. Has room to store iPad and other things. There's also 3 or 4 smaller compartments to store and organize you iPad power cord, phone, etc. Water-resistant. I have never had problems with water damage or related issues.
