Question about

I was using an RV Convert to copy movies I own from DVD TO my Tivo HD (kinda like a video juke box).

It was working fine for the last year.

Our building just converted from Comcast analog to Digital.

Because I already had Cable Cards in my Tivo, I didn't need to get a converter box or do anything special, but after the conversion, I am no longer able to play the DVD and see/record it on Channel 4. It says something like no channel detected.

If the DVD player is on, and I go into the setup / video on my tivo, it shows great DIGITAL signals for everything but channel 4.

This is just a guess: before the conversion, the cable type might have been the same as the output from the rf converter, but after the comcast digital conversion, maybe it expects digital on every channel? (including ch.4 which is the output of the dvd player through the rf converter).

BTW: my upscaling dvd player has HDMI and RCA cables out. Of course our TIVO HD does not have an HDMI in. Last night I connected the HDMI from the DVD player directly to the TV, and it really looked great.

So three questions:

1. Is there any way to get TIVO to permit the DVD / RF converter to display the DVD output on CH 4 so I can watch/record it onto my TIVO HD

2. Is there such a thing as a digital outputting rf converter with coax & HDMI inputs so I don't suffer a huge quality loss using the rca cables?

3. Is there a better solution to get DVD's onto a video jukebox? (I don't think I want to stream it from my pc. I'd like a solution that has local storage and an HDMI output to the TV, and an hdmi input from the upscaling dvd player).

Thanks for all ideas,

Mike

Ultimately, I decided to buy a copy of TIVO desktop and xilisolft dvd ripper ultimate 6 using 16:6 and pan/scan HD ripping to move content to my tivo.

Just wanted to close the issue,
