Question about

I've seen in many photos people getting the (exact) battery percentage over the battery indicator over the battery icon in the status bar.

Is this a root only thing, or can I do it through a market app? Thanks!

Yeah having the battery percentage on the status bar itself is a feature of cyanogen mod, as well as other custom roms.

Personally I think that it can make you a bit neurotic to see the percentage constantly. I use the Battery Status - Free widget to check battery percentage when i need to.

Check out an app called Battery Monitor.

I don't have a droid but that was a feature in Cyanogen's CM6 when I was using it, so I would imagine it is only for rooted phones.
