Question about
I'm very new to the HTC Hero.
How do I save my ringtones that I've downloaded to my sd card and also how do I personalize my contacts with their own special ringtone. I like this phone so far but much more complicated than my Blackberry.
go into the people app, choose person, press menu, go to edit and there is a ringtone choosing tab

in general, always try to press menu when you want to do something. Most of the time it is hidden there ;) I had to get used to it coming from my windows mobile phone but now it is great. Enjoy your phone!

If you want to transfer something on or off your SD card, connect the phone to your computer with the USB cable, mount the SD card by dragging the notification pane down, and drag the ringtones over (it will show up as an external drive).
That is the most straight forward way to get data on and off any Android phone, but there are plenty of other options with wireless syncing apps or taking the micro SD card out and using a card reader/adapter to connect it to you computer.
