Question about

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 and I want to know three things. How can I get overclocked and show real results without sacrificing battery life?

How can I wireless tether for free? And how can I change this stupid bootscreen? Thanks!

Setcpu is built into CM7. You can use it to over clock your device or given the speed down and it Dan be set low and ramp up when needed. Go to SETTINGS>CYANOGENMOD SETTINGS>PERFORMANCE>CPU SETTINGS

Tethering is also built directly into Cyanogenmod. Go to SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>TETHERING & PORTABLE HOTSPOT
From there you can configure a USB tether or set up a Wi-Fi hotspot

There's one app called SetCPU that lets you overclock and another called Wireless Tether that lets you do tethering.

As for the bootscreen, no idea!

Overclocking while saving battery can be done with the Smartass governor. It sets the cpu speed based on factors in the phone whereas OnDemand will crank it when needed. With Smartass I've gotten 30+ hours with my Eris w/ moderate use.

Wireless Tether = app called Wireless Tether

Bootscreen = don't remember the exact command but you have to push a zip to a folder on your phone. The info, and bootscreens, is littered all over the XDA forums.

You need to use ADB to push a bootanimation.zip to the phone. The file location varies depending on phone and ROM. Like others have said, a XDA search will probably tell you the right location.
