Question about
I'm loving my new HP Mini 311. It fits so nicely in my lap and find it super easy to type on.
As a heavy web surfer, social media person and a heavy MS Office user, I'm wondering what, if any, issues would prevent me from making this my primary computer. Will having multiple docs and Chrome tabs really slow it down or is it just other types of software I should avoid. I've already got a few backup drives for all the pics and vids of my 4-year old. Thoughts?
The screen resolution is too low for me to make it a primary even though it has a high resolution for being a netbook, which tend to top out at 1024 x 600.
I found it grinds to a halt when having a more than a 3 apps open at once, but it also helps me focus on one task and minimizes distraction.
But I'd say if it works for what you currently do, then by all means go for it. If it breaks, it's cheap enough to just buy another one, but I'd consider one of CULV laptops like the ASUS UL30jt or even a dual-core atom like the ASUS Eee PC 1201n.

I've got the 1201N and I really like it. I put Ubuntu on it alongside Windows 7 and it does just fine. If you're able to make it your main machine, why not? I'm already considering downsizing from my current 17" MacBook pro to something closer to 14".
If you can make a netbook work for your purposes, that's great because there are so many added benefits to that extra portability.
