Thanks for the suggestion. I would classify this room as more of a medium sized room though. Do you have any suggestions on the stereo as well? or just speakers?

Need 2 more things, sources & processing/amplification. An AV receiver will handle the processing/amplification. Ones that i think will go with this speaker setup would be the following:

Yamaha RX-V667
Denon AVR-1910 or AVR-1911
Pioneer VSX-1019 or VSX-1020

Since it sounds like these are used primarily for audio and not video, feel free to try to find last year's models. Typically you'll only get HDMI 1.4 or more HDMI ports, neither of which really useful in an audio only situation. And unless you have a 3D ready TV, HDMI 1.4 won't do much for you anyway legacy HDMI standards already don't.

The comes the sources.

I would say pick up a CD player, but a lot of people have moved onto Digital media for music. In that case something like the Logitech Squeezebox Duet that can stream from the internet & your PC/Mac. If you have an iOS device or use iTunes, either a Airport Express or an AppleTV that you can use AirPlay/AirTunes to stream music wirelessly from iTunes or your iOS device.

You might have other sources in mind though, either just audio or both audio/video in which case anything u have will plug into the receiver & speakers.
