I have a standard dsl modem now, but would like to get a router. Is it easy to connect?
Yup, you pretty much plug the ethernet cable that you would normally connect to your computer into a port on the back of the router. From there, you can connect other computers to the router wirelessly or wired, depending on which router you get. The manual that comes with your router should be able to walk you through the whole thing.
