Question about

I got a fleck of dust underneath the front glass panel. I have no idea how it got there.

It doesn't affect the functionality of the phone, but sure is annoying.

Anyone else have this happen and if so, what have you done about it (if anything)?

I had this exact same problem w/ my 3GS. I took it to an apple store, and they replaced the screen on the spot. Had to wait around for about an hour, on the waiting list, but once I got to talk to a 'genius' - they had it back to me within 10 mins.

Take it back. I'm sure they'll replace it.

Used to be with the previous generation they could clean it in an Apple store while you waited, not sure about the new ones though.

Definitely an interesting problem. I thought with the new screen design, this wouldn't even be possible. I guess it can still be an issue.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. As soon as I can get out to the Genius Bar, I'll post an update in case that's helpful for anyone.

Ok, made a visit to the Genius Bar today and they did a straight swap with no fuss. I would have been just fine with them cleaning the dust out, but he said the best they could do was give me a new unit. No complaints here!

As an aside, I'm adding this to the list of times the Genius Bar has exceeded expectations. Kudos to them.
