I am thinking of getting a Galaxy Nexus and have some questions.

Is it durable as in will the screen break easily?
How long does the battery last/Should i get an extended one?
I used to have an iTouch is it hard to adjust to ICS?
How is the Android Marketplace (are there good apps/are there lots of viruses)?
Are there many good games?

drkokandy had some good points, I thought i would just chime in as well though.

- I've had mine since the day after launch, and I find the screen to be phenomenal. I have the standard case/belt clip (which is really nice because it has a pop out stand for hold to phone either horizontally or vertically) and while I haven't dropped it, the screen feels quite strong.

- Similarly, I would say do not go for the extended battery. The bulk takes away one of the great things about the Nexus, its size. Now I live in an area without 4g, but on 3g my battery has lasted anywhere from 10 hours (from a lot of video/audio/web surfing on 3g) to 26 hours (of general texting and twitter type use). Most times I have it on medium brightness.

- I find 4.0 Android to be very simple and intuitive. Now that is coming from Android 2.2, but I did have a 1st gen iTouch before that. Minor learning curve, but you will probably be fine.

- I would say most major apps and games on iOS are on Android by this point or have an equivalent one. Minecraft Pocket Edition and Angry Birds are some of my own favorites.

  • The screen seems very solid to me. I have dropped my phone a number of times and have had no problems. I do have a case that covers the screen for travel, but it never seems to be on when I drop it :) I've heard others keep their phone in the same pocket with their keys & hasn't scratched the screen at all.
  • I usually last about through the middle of the afternoon (sometime between 2 and 4) before my battery gets critical and I need to recharge. I use it moderately on an average day and I get 4G at work. When I use it less or turn off 4G (or am out of LTE range) it can last until I get home. I do not have an extended battery. I got a second charge cord, which I keep at work. It was a fraction of the price of the extended battery. The extended battery bulks up the phone and prevents it from fitting in most cases.
  • I think ICS is far superior to the iPod Touch, which I also have and use way less now. The good news is if you get stuck, there's plenty of info about using Android online (or on gdgt!)
  • The Android Market has many great apps. I've never had a virus, but I know they're out there. Avoid apps that promise free paid apps, free wallpapers, free ringtones, or pirated stuff and I think you'll be fine.
  • I have found lots of great games on here. Some of my favorites now are BlooKid, Andoku 2, Little Empire, Where's My Water, and some stuff you might have on iOS like Words With Friends & Angry Birds.
