Question about
snowgirl

I am planning to move to Iraq in couple weeks where I am planning to live for couple years. Should I buy WiFi only or WiFi plus 3g.

I have some doubts that I will be able to find mini Smart Chip there. Any thoughts please.
Plus I will use my Ipad 2 for surfing, reading and skyping do I need 16 or 32G. Any input will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you can afford it, why not go 3G just to have it? I'm not sure how strong 3G service is there (I assume it's probably decent in the various larger cities), but it's better to have it and not need it than not have it and suddenly need it.

In terms of the mini-SIM card found in the iPad, you can buy a tool that will cut standard SIM cards to mini-SIM cards: www.cutmysim.com/

I have no idea of the state of the phone networks in Iraq, but even if they won't provide you with a micro sim you can make your own from a regular sim, scissors and a steady hand

I'm still waiting for my ipad 2, but I filled my ipad1 16GB with apps alone. So I'd lean towards the 32, but your mileage may vary.

For just surfing, reading and skyping I think a 16GB would be plenty. I have the 16GB with about a thousands songs, dozens of books, and a pretty good collection of apps with 4.5GBs to spare.

If you are planning on storing a bunch of movies for times you won't have internet access consider the 32, otherwise you should be fine with the 16.

There is no 3G network in Iraq.

Always go for the higher storage if you can afford it, as you'll soon fill it up.
