How pocketable are smart phones with 4.3" and larger displays?

I've never tried living with a phone with a display larger than 4". With displays growing to 4.5" plus, I have to wonder what it is like to live with pulling these big phones in and out of your pocket all day? It would be much easier on your eyes than a 3.5" display I'm sure, but have you fellow smartphone users who carry big phones found it to be a big hassle? Thanks for any feedback on this.

I had the EVO and now the Photon and they have been fine. I carry my phone in my front left pocket. It also fits in a shirt pocket with no problems.

Remember that the screen in the Galaxy Nexus is larger, but the area of the phone per se is about the same as the Nexus S. That is because they made the bezel much thinner and what used to be the space for buttons is now part of the screen, since ICS uses virtual ones.

I just picked up the HTC Vivid. And though it is 4.5 I have found it very pocket-able still. So far it hasn't cause any discomfort when transporting it so far. Plus I have a battery charger/case for it which makes it a little thicker, but still no discomfort.

Essentially all the 4.6-7 phones today are the same size of 4.3 phones of yesteryear. With ICS they drop the buttons and that gets counted towards screensize.

I still think the Evo/Thunderbolt line of phones are still larger than most (Streak and Note not withstanding).

From my experience I'd say that the SGSII is just as easy to pocket as the SGSI. In form-fitting jeans it still works. I don't recommend doing yard work with this thing in your jeans pocket, it doesn't like fulcrum pressure.

Slacks are no problem. Shirt pockets are no problem. If I can fit the Galaxy Tab in my slacks... well I'm a tall guy

I don't personally have a 4.3" inch phone, but my brother who has the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint tells me his is just the right size for his pocket.

I will be testing out the limits when I buy the 4.65" Galaxy Nexus if you want to check back with me after it is released.

Hope this helps.

I'm pocketing the Galaxy S2, I have average size jean pockets and it fits comfortably, however I don't put anything else in with the phone; size is one reason, another is I don't want the screen getting scratched by loose change or keys...

Great. I'm especially interested in the Galaxy Nexus (as a lot of people are, I'm sure). Personally, I am only interested in buying phones that are independent of carrier customization like the Nexus line or the iPhone. While there are a lot of really nice offerings that are heavily customized by the carrier and the manufacturers, they all have too many pitfalls to be worthy of a two year commitment for me.

I have a Galaxy Note, and despite the 5.3" screen, I've never has a problem with the phone in my front pants pocket or shirt pocket.

The Galaxy SIII's rumored 4.8" screen should seem absolutely minuscule by comparison.
