How often do you use in-app purchasing in mobile applications?
How often do you find yourself purchasing in-app content and what sorts of content do you purchase?
I imagine that part of it depends on the app. I often encounter this sort of thing in games. You can either invest the time to unlock the level, or pay 99 cents and open it up right away. (I feel like this is some weird psychology experiment, so I often try to resist paying.) There are other apps, like the Economist, Wired, and the Atlantic that allow you to purchase new issues. This is something I'll end up doing on occasion -- usually while traveling.

The only time I was tempted was in the game Gun Bros. They had the option to play for days and days and days for measly amounts of in-game gold, or I could buy "bucks" in the app. I thought "great!" Then I saw that in order to buy the best armor/gun in the game it would have cost me around $90. That turned me off so much I even stopped playing the game!

I also bought a book in iBooks once (does that count?). I won't be doing that again, since I have an Android phone and cannot access iBooks ebooks on it, only on my iPad. From now on I'll get my ebooks through amazon or B&N.

I do use in-app purchases all the time for comics, though. DC Comics/Comixology/Marvel Comics is pretty much the only place I buy comics, so on new comics Wednesday, I'll get a bunch of comics
