Question about
How much storage have you used on your iPad 2?
I'm trying to figure out how much memory I would need to get(probably 16 or 32 GB). I mainly want to use it for Games,Digital magazines and comics and browsing the web. I'm not going to store movies and music on the device. I just don't want to buy the 16GB and realize that I need more memory being that there is no SD slot.

My original iPad had 16GB and I found myself maxing it out, and so went for the 32GB model when I bought an iPad 2. It can be a little surprising how much storage apps can take up, so combining all the apps I had with a couple of movies had me running out of room on my 16GB model. That said, if you really aren't going to keep any music or video on there you will probably be ok.

I've kept an eye on my storage usage on my various iOS devices over the years and found that I've personally never really needed more than 16GB, especially on the iPad. Even with a lot of (big) apps, a bunch of books, thousands of photos, and a few movies, I don't think I've ever gone up past 10GB. The other thing to remember is if you need more room, you can always very easily get rid of stuff (like movies you're not watching).

I personally have the 3G 64 Gb (I replaced a gen 1 32Gb) and have over 13 Gig of just application. But I have Navigant on there as I use this as my GPS when I drive and a few other big applications eat up a lot of that 13 Gb. Personally I think the 32 is the best choice as it gives you the space to grow and not worry about filling it up. The only reason I got the 64 was that it was all that was left otherwise I would have gone 32. I do find my self not worrying about how many apps are on the device now since I have the room to spare.
If you already have a phone that lets you tether your iPad that’s great save the money but don’t forget that it will add a drain to the phones battery. I do think the 3G model is the way to go if you are going to be out and about with the device.

I only have about 4GB free on my 32GB model. So, I'm using 28GB? Insane! The large majority of the data is used by apps as well (and the associated content that some apps download.) I only have about 250 MP3s on there and a couple of video podcasts.
The other big chunk is probably photos -- I often import photos directly from my cameras to the iPad when I'm traveling (and then proceed to forget to remove them when I'm done).

Although I don't have an iPad 2 (I have an iPad 1), I can say that I rarely reach the 16 GB limit.
Granted, I don't have a lot of music (mostly podcasts iTunes deletes once I listen to), but I do own a bunch of games. However, I do need to delete apps once in a while, specially since I began to download video reviews, video podcasts, and gaming trailers. I now keep only the apps and games I am currently playing, to leave a bunch of space for unwatched videos/podcasts.
If you are into music and videos, I suggest the 32GB iPad. Seems to be enough space for whatever you want without the need to delete a couple of apps to keep space for future stuff. And, to be honest, you'll probably end up with a bunch of apps (and videos or music) you'll rarely use, so try to keep your device clean and you'll never have to deal with space limits.

I used to be of the opinion that there was no reason to upgrade to higher capacity when one can stream media content with apps like StreamToMe, AirVideo, Plex, Netflix, etc. But I will have to reevaluate this policy in light of the download slanted nature of the newly announced iCloud service. If the convenience of this necessitate a little extra device storage, so be it.

16GB is definitely not enough if you plan on subscribing to magazines, some of which weigh in at over 500MB per issue o_O (I know, that's insane).
Copying RAW photos from your DSLR using the camera connection kit? More memory!
Wanna edit videos in iMovie for iOS? Even more memory!

For me 32GB ipad is the sweet spot. I have a 64GB now but don't really need the extra space. It is easy to have much space but 32 is good for some video's a lot of apps. 16GB is possible but if you want to get a decent collection of music one there and not just some playlist you will get into trouble.
Also remember if you travel a lot, it is nice to have the extra space to put some more movies on there ;)

Unless you travel often and are without an Internet connection for extended periods of time or have a gaming habit worthy of a TLC show, 16 GBs of internal iPad storage should be sufficient . For reference purposes, a magazine comes in around 100 MB. A book is 2 MB. A song is 4 MB. A movie is 700 MB. A TV show is 250 MB. For simplicity sake, 1GB is 1000 MB. 16 GB is 16,000 MB. That's a lot of content.
With an fast enough Internet connection at home and abroad, this becomes a non-issue. A plethora of streaming and cloud based services/apps/companies render local storage on the iPad virtually useless. Look up Air Video, Plex, Slacker Radio, Simplenote, Dropbox, and Goodreader. It will give you a good idea of what is out there. I am not affiliated with nor promoting any of these apps/companies. They just have solutions/apps that work.
As far as everyone who recommended the 3G iPad version, they are not in the know. If you have an iPhone and are willing to legally jailbreak your iPhone, meaning do what the almighty Apple Co. and its investors do not want you to do, you do not require an additional data connection and associated monthly service charge. Apple and its investors lose out on their delicious piece of [insert name of carrier]'s high margin pie.
Using simple software like MyWi allows your iPhone to act as a wireless connection for your iPad. It also passes along the GPS data for Maps and other GPS/Location aware apps.

I have the 64gig version. The only reason that I chose the largest is because I like to have everything with me all the time. That being said, I use all but 6gigs. If all you're going to use the device for is apps and web browsing then the 16gig version would be the best.

I think I use about half of my 16GB. I don't think I'll be hitting the 16GB anytime soon with the apps. If anything, I'll just get rid of the songs I have on there, since I have a phone for my music.

My first iPad was 32GB and I was pretty close to maxed out most of the time. I ended up getting the 64GB iPad 2 but now I'm only carrying usually about 20ish GB. Go figure. Depending on what happens with the next iPad I might sell this one and get a 32 GB iPad 3. We'll have to see.

Using a 3G 64GB iPad 2, and it's usually filled with about 40GB. This is due to apps, magazines, and video files(not encoded, I play them with a 3rd party video player app).

I have the 16GB, and thought it would be enough for me. But didn't know I would have installed over 6GB of apps alone! The rest is used by high bitrate music. Speaker quality is a little better than expected, too.

I bought a 16GB model and have used only 8GBs thus far. I stream everything from my home server. 6GBs is all apps and the other 2 are documents, books, etc. I don't use my iPad for music. It's all streaming video, apps, and web surfing, so, for me, I didn't need anymore storage.

I have currently used 38 GB with 20GB of free space. Pretty ridiculous really. Lots of apps, 16 GB of music (which I don't need), lots of photos, and plenty of video. Most people should only need 32GB. I would not recommend 16 GB because it adds up fast.

I use about 51 gb on my iPad. I realized that I would need a lot of space to store my music, but wanted to ensure I had enough space for my apps and non-music data. Since my music collectioni borders on 22 Gb it only made sense to go big.
I probably would've bought a 128Gb model had one been available.

I have a 16GB iPad and I've never come close to maxing it out with a small selection of my favorite music, a couple of books, and TONS of apps loaded.
That being said, I'm currently purging unused apps and all the music so I can fit as many movies as possible for a 3 week trip to Asia. But I'm still happy with 16GB. I don't feel I would have gotten enough use out of a larger storage model to justify the price difference.

Not sure why the inquiry is specific to iPad 2 owners, but this owner of a first generation 64 GB 3G iPad has noticed the largest amount of memory taken up at one time was close to 57 GB when I accidentally installed all of my apps. DOH!
However, I typically have about 8 unabridged audio books (~0.1 GB), 4 or 5 full length movies (~ 1 GB each as MP4, so ~5 GB), 302 of my most commonly used apps (~15 GB and way overkill for me), about 2000 songs and podcasts (`10GB), about 200 photos (~1.6 GB) and 0.5 GB of something dubbed other (OS?) for a grand total of approximately 33 GB. That being said, I could probably get by with a 32 GB iPad if I absolutely needed while 16 GB would require too much self-policing for my taste. As for general iPad usage, besides for free time, I travel for work a few times a year and have begun taking the iPad instead of a laptop on business trips with great success.
Keep in mind two things:
1) as an iPad 1 owner, I have no camera with which to shoot video and pictures, though I'm not sure I'd use personally them. If you are one who would do so very heavily, I'd suggest going the 64 GB version for plenty of headroom, and the same for people sharing an iPad and/or with kids to keep the peace.
2) the advent of iCloud will now make it easy to retrieve music, apps, books, tv shows, and possibly movies (see iTunes Replay rumors) when away from your main computer. Therefore, less worrying about whether you might need something on the road and always carrying all your files with you. I think that will make the 16 GB iPad even more palatable to people (though I'd still lean at least 32 GB to be safe).

I use my iPad as a photo backup device when I'm on a trip, so my 32GB iPad was filling up pretty quickly, so I got the 64gig iPad2... But I would think 32GB should be ideal

I have a 64GB, and while it's quite a bit more than I need right now (I think I'm using ~25GB) I like having the extra space because I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to apps and data and I'd hate to have to go through and prune stuff out periodically. Of course, my iPad was a gift--I probably wouldn't have paid for the different between the 64 and the 32 myself but it's definitely nice to have if you can afford it.
I also like keeping my entire music library on my iPad, unlike what some other people have suggested. The iPad is a far superior device for a lot of activities that I do every day and it's nice to be able to read the news or catch up on Twitter while listening to music without having to get another device involved.

I have the 64 gb unit and I have about 29 gb left. I don't have music, but I do have a lot of images and video that I have shot. I use it mostly for email, reading newspapers, Flipboard, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.
