Question about
Hoobleh

How many of you still have your original release shipment consoles?

...and if so how many times have you had your box in for a fix?

5 1/2 years all on one console, one disk drive replacement, one Xbox Oven visit.

A friend bought the one I am using on release day then sold it to me for $100 when the HDMI version came out. Just before it hit its 3 year date, it gave the RROD and I was able to send it in for repair for free. It is still kicking to this day. Best $100 I ever spent on a console. :) I just hope it lasts me until the next one comes out.

My brother got his console a month or so after launch and had to send it in for repairs once (RROD). After that it was fine for a 4 years until it stopped reading discs and was well out of warranty, so we decided not to send it in again.

I still have my original, UK launch day Xbox 360. Sadly it red ringed some time ago and I never got around to getting it fixed as I've bought a S model since.

I purchased my 360 on release day, November 22, 2005. It has RRoD'd 2 times. The first time was after about a year, and MS fixed it without issue. The second time it RRoD'd was right around the time Halo 3 released. In that instance MS replaced the console with a brand new manufacture, so technically I don't still have the original console.

I have not had any additional problems with the 360 since that replacement, though at this point I am starting to get worried about the hard drive. I don't generally trust hard drives past 5 years.

Got mine used about 5 years ago for $50, but I believe it's one of the first ones out. Red Ringed a few years later and Microshaft fixed. Original 20GB HD. I'm sure it'll die soon enough. Then I'll have an excuse to search out a newer model.

Still got my launch console in the cupboard, sadly it died about 5 months ago (no RROD, the video out just stopped working completely). As MS charge for a repair, and seeing as how I already have another, it's just sitting there, awaiting a Viking burial.
