Question about
How long is the battery life on the Nintendo 3DS?
I've been hearing that's it can be as short as 2 hours. Has this been the case for anyone out there?

If you keep it on sleep mode, I've been able to walk around with it for about 3 days before the red battery light came to life.

I've had it for about a week and half now and I would say that I get between 3-4 hours of gameplay and that's with my 3DS in constant sleep mode. The 3DS will last a good 2 days (with it off during the late night when I'm asleep) from just sleep mode alone! I was pretty amazed with that sleep mode battery life especially since the wireless is constantly on.

i played mine on breaks a few days ago and they are 15 min breaks, lasted all day and still had 3/4ths of battery. I don't ride a bus or train for 45 mins as some do. Not sure how it would do in this situation. I took mine to the mall today, have wifi on in the back, etc etc and i am ok

To preface: I haven't been playing 3DS games, I've been playing Pokemon Black. I imagine the 3DS uses more battery when it is actually running 3D
That said, I find the battery life to be acceptable. I play quite a bit in the evenings, and sometimes on my lunch break at work, and haven't ever thought that the battery life was too short. I'd say it is consistent with most smartphone batteries. I haven't owned a portable system since the GameBoy Advance (Rocking the AA's!) so I'm not sure if I should expect better of the 3DS or not.

It's not as bad as people are making out. It's acceptable, but it is the achilles heel of the system IMO.
