How is your holding up?

I've had mine for 2 years now and since then:
two keys are damaged, one is missing
one foot broke off and is missing
the cable that sends data and power to the lcd broke clean in half (i took it apart to see if I could fix it but obviously not)

I bought this when I was using a mac and the screen didn't work due to lack of driver/software and when I got a pc the screen broke so I've never fully used this keyboard.

I'd contact Logitech about that. They may replace it for free as long as you have proof of purchase. I had an MX1000 that died and they sent me an MX Revolution. Then when the MX Revolution died, they sent me another one! It was years after I bought the original MX1000.

They might send you the 2nd-gen though; that's the only catch. If you don't mind that, do it.

I've had mine for almost 4 years now. Got it as a freshman in college when the 1st gen came out. Happy to have the Blue back light rather than the orange one.

Its been in excellent condition through pretty heavy use. I'd set it up as my keyboard of choice when I docked my laptop in so its been put to work use and a fair bit of key spamming gaming use. It worked great throughout and has been amazingly durable. I did however break one of the leg stands, as I guess it just couldn't hold up to the finger mashing force of an FPS. But other than that, no complaints.

I am especially happy with the music controls. The fact that they worked with the Zune software has been a huge benefit for me and I Hope they develop that particular facility more. Now considering moving upto the G19 once I find a job and a real income. The broke college student days are now just plain broke unemployed person days.

I've had mine for 4 years, no problems except that the paint on the WASD, left Shift, CTRL and Alt keys has worn off a little... Yes I love my FPS games.

I don't know what I will do when this keyboard dies... I tried replacing it once before with a Saitek keyboard, but nothing else feels right.

My major gripe with the G15 - both generations - is the tendency of the keyboard to start 'binding' quite quickly in sustained heavy use. Out of the Razer, Microsoft, Logitech and even Saitek, I think the Logi is vying for joint-lowest quality of key feel after it's been subject to some wear and tear.

I like the macro element, and while I've found the display occasionally useful I don't think it's a must-have. I have to say it's not my first choice in a gaming keyboard - the Razers and Microsofts take that honour these days.

Ok it's been 2 years since I wrote my earlier reply and my G15 is still in exactly the same condition it was in back then! I did buy a new machine and a G510 to go with it and I use the G510 more than the G15 now, but the G15 still is the main keyboard to what has become my secondary machine :)

Mine is 4 years old. Apart from an accidental drop which chipped the paint off the "D" key, and a bit of wear on the silver in the front wrist rest - it.s still great. EXCEPT the key backlights were very dim in the area of the "L" and flickering in the numpad. So I bought a bunch of 3mm high intensity blue LEDs and replaced them. Took about 2 hours as I was slow in taking the board apart. Lots of flex cables to break if you are rough. In hindsight I should have used white LEDs as I think there is a blue layer in the backlight system and the lights are almost purple. They are now very visible and a big improvement over the old LEDs.

This is not a project for anyone not equipped or used to desoldering/soldering small parts.
Also NEVER take the screws off the keyboard layers under the plexiglass. There are several mylar sheets and alignment is a capital "B".

Had mine for probably 2 years now, maybe longer?

Everything is perfect except for the fast forward key, which no longer sits flush, but has sunk on its right hand side.

I'm glad the G19 is around as a potential replacement, I really dislike the 2nd-Gen G15

Also had mine for a little over 2 years, still in great working condition, I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon however when I do the G19 is definitely a strong contender, especiall over the 2G G15.

Mine lasted about a year and a half before the paint started to wear off and started having spotty electrical issues.

I think I've had mine since they first came out. Other than the silver paint wearing off below the left Control key, it's in very good shape.

I have had mine for about 3 years now I would think. It has held up quite well, with no technical issues. My only problem is aesthetic, as the paint near the bottom on the left side looks quite worn and bad now. The silver has not held up. This is probably because I use WASD controls, and so my hand is always over there.

Have had mine for going on 4 years now. Heavy usage is an understatement as it gets about 4 hours of work nightly since purchase. Not a single problem except the silver on the wrist rest is very worn out.

Had mine for about 3 years until it broke. Called Logitech and they sent me a full replacement. My broken one never even made it to them do to a UPS shipping error and they still set me a new keyboard!!!!

I had my G15 since december 2005. WASD got worn off last year, but everything still worked. Unfortunately, this year the L, O, zero, :, comma, numpad, and dash/underscore keys stopped working. Trashed my old G15 as soon as the G19 came out.

I have also had mine for roughly 4 years now. Other than the paint wearing off on some of the keys that I use the most (WASD, etc.), it has held up really well. Good thing I am a touch typist, otherwise those worn off keys would be a problem. :-)

had mine for 2+ years, the paint wore off the area below the space board pretty quick. Haven't had too many issues with it, one time it randomly stopped working (fine after a restart). Considering I game a lot, (min. of 40hrs a week) its held up really damn well.

I've had one for 3+ years. One of the feet went missing, and the clip that holds the wrist rest onto the keyboard broke. The paint below the ctrl, alt, and space bar has worn out a little. I've spilled coke on this keyboard twice and aside from some sticky keys it still works. I love this keyboard!

I've had mine for nearly 4 years and still love it. Like some others the paint on theWASD is faded, and the backlight seems to be dimmer than it used to be. I have no desire to upgrade, although the G19 looks pretty sweet. I might get one if the price goes down a bit.

And to answer your question: Mine is busted.

I have had it for about 2 years also, but the MR (macro recorder) key is stuck which is a pain because now I can't really create macros on the fly. Any other aspect of the keyboard is just about as it should be. And my small display applications still work :)

ive had mine since they came out. and aside from no windows 7 software i can find yet, and the silver paint wearing off under the left control key, ive had no problems. regular compressed air cleaning has kept it in fine shape.

I had nothing but problems with mine, or to put it another way, it never worked fully.

First the keyboard worked fine, but it would never work with itunes.
then the keyboard worked fine, but none of the media keys worked except volume.
then the macro keys stopped working

I switched to Ubuntu at this point and couldn't get everything working at once either, though that was probably Ubuntu's (read: mine) fault.

And at last, I switched back to Windows and a whole block of keys stopped working. That happened in the past and I just unplug it for 15 minutes and it would come right back. It's been unplugged for 15 months now and that block of keys hasn't come back.

piece of shit in my opinion, the features are nice if they work though. I'm using a 10 dollar Dell media keyboard now and its bulletproof.

Had mine for just over 2 years, and haven't got a problem with it at all. Silver finish coming of the bottom and that the only issue. Don't look after it at all!! Probably best keyboard I have ever used.

I've had two of these for years now and they've held up VERY well under heavy heavy use and MUCH gaming. Well pretty well....one did have a spectaular fail of late....but that was my fault. . Who knew you couldn't make a Logitech smoothie with a G15? farm3.static.flickr.com/2521/3731877283_d2e93666a1...

In Logitechs defense...after I pulled all the keys, put them through the dishwasher, snapped them back into place...drained and wiped the keyboard then let it dry for 48 hours...everything but the number pad and the backspace key worked.

I wouldn't want to think about how my laptop would hold up under those conditions.

I'm on my second one at the moment. Absolutely love this KB. Only problem I've had is my old one had the paint come off the keys. Now that one is my parts backup. I can't live without my G keys anymore. I Just wish they made a split, ergonomic version. That would be heaven.

My first Gen G15 was used for 2+ years. The only real hassle I had with it is that the letters on the key's were getting wiped. The letters on my WASD keys especially were unrecognizable after a while. The 2nd Gen G15 hasn't had that issue so far.

Mine has generally held up OK, but sometimes I discover that my left CTRL key is stuck, or something. As a result, I get some funky results with some actions, such as clicking on a folder on my Firefox bookmarks bar (it will try to open all the pages that are bookmarked in the folder, instead of opening the folder for further selection).
