Question about

How is Cyanogen on this thing?

I'm interested in this phone, however, I hate the skin I've seen it come with. I know SE provides a means to unlock the bootloader so that's of no issue. I'm wondering about how Cyanogen works on this model. Are there any big glitches I should worry about? How do the buttons work on a modded rom? Are there roms I should look out for other than Cyanogen?

Thanks!

On a device like this I'd be very hesitant to go jumping into a custom ROM. There are some very specific features to the device that may break often or not get properly supported.

It also looks like the work that has been done on it thus far is still very new so it may be some time before things are to properly stable point.

Yeah, I just got it. Tried Cyanogen and the only thing that didn't work was the camera. Which is a pretty big deal.

Luckily I made a nandroid backup as none of the newer SE roms seemed to like my device. I am running my stock 2.3.3 rom with Doom Kernelv3. Not too shabby. In fact I say the skin's really growing on me. And with the Doom kernel I got root, so I was able to remove a BUNCH of crapware and partition my sdcard for apps. 1.5gb for apps should keep me fine and dandy :) (and the camera works!!)

Disadv with Cyanogen is you lose Xperia Play Launcher, not that it is a deterring factor but it is pretty good.

There are other custom ROMs like Darkforest, XMIUI and also ICX (Ice Cream Sandwich Xperia) which are in development state. They are all doing good. You could also flash DoomKernel to get the Overclocking and it seems stable enough.
