As far as I know, based on what was said when the Chromebooks were announced, Chrome OS is relatively secure. Every single tab in the browser (which is what Chrome OS is) is sandboxed. If you go to a malicious website in a certain tab it is completely closed off from accessing your other tabs and your data in the cloud.

You can read here about Chromium's security straight from Google: www.chromium.org/chromium-os/chromiumos-design-doc...

Good luck!

Just like any OS there will always be a vulnerability that someone will find. The determining factor in why people may attack an OS is often marketshare. Chrome OS is a custom build of Linux that just has the Chromium browser load over a standard Linux kernel. This helps keep down issues because there is far less a user can run and do but the attacks can still come from a browser, like they often do.

With that all being said I'd say ChromeOS is fairly secure because of its limited system access.

Thanks for your valuable answers. Anyway I believe it will be more secure than Windows OS while using internet. I have dual boot with Win 7 and Ubuntu 11.04. But when I read about Chrome OS, I realize that I spent 99% of the time in Internet. So I wanted to try it out. But it is not booting in my DELL Vostro 3500 but it is working fine in my other DELL machine.
