Question about
dalhectar

How do these two devices compare in terms of in terms of UI, speed, responsiveness, meta data support, reliability, and codec support?

*.mkv with h.264 and/or VC1 video with AC3/DTS sound.
do either support HD lossless codecs in *.mkv
embedded and/or external subtitles in *.Mkv and *.mp4/*.m4v
-*.srt subtitles
-*.idx & *.sub subtitles
*.m4v with h.264 video and ac3 sound

In terms of WAF, which of these 2 work better? Which one means less headaches and a better "just works" approach. For our use, streaming video is a wash since we have a Bu-Ray player that handles our preferred streaming service, NetFlix. It it helps, media will either be stored internally in the Live Hub or via a USB drive on the Boxee Box.

"UI Speed" and "responsiveness" are going to be pretty personal and what you're us to.

If you're use to watch online video on a 1G connection with a high end gaming machine...Well, you're going to find watching the same video on your TV over a wireless network a bit slow. I've been happy with it, though I have had it "lockup" from time to time.

Meta data seems pretty good, but again only as good as what it included. I've been very happy with album art, tv show images and episode synopsis but there are other times it's real crap.

There was soem probelm with subtitles on the first version that I believe was fixed with the "Thanksgiving" Firmware update. Haven't heard anything since.

They definatley fixed a bug I had which was after an hour of continous flash play the sound would drop out. Since the firmware update, I've not had the problem.
