Question about
How do I find out what is currently syncing on my Droid X?
I recently went back to semi-stock Android on my Droid X (still rooted) and I noticed that the sync icon is always displaying in the notification bar: cl.ly/1b3O3D0s1E091f2j2w13
I've already went into "My Accounts" and didn't see anything that would give me an idea of what's being synced on my phone.
Is there any way I can see what is syncing at that very moment or be at least be able to hide the icon?

I resolved the issue by just restoring my phone to stock Android (non-root). I can't take any more screenshots, but at least that annoying icon went away. I also noticed some subtle differences between the two roms. Example, the haptic feedback on the keyboard is a lot more subtle now. Weird.
I'm going to stay stock for the time being. Maybe I'll jump back once a stable version of Cyanogenmod is released for the Droid X.

I had the same problem one time. If you made a backup of your system, do not restore the system data. I used Titanium backup when I restored everything and had this issue. Now I use Mybackup Root. I backup my app apks and data only. Also make you you have wiped cache/data and dalvik before installing a new ROM or going back to stock. Otherwise some files stay on your phone and when you restore on top of old ones, you will have the never ending sync icon.
Hope this helps.

There is no default app that'll tell you exactly what the phone is doing at the time, but you could fire up "applications" and check on what is running at that time. that ought to give you a fair idea.
Plus, if you just flashed, that looks like most leaks (.573, .588, .595, .596...); my guess is, its syncing contacts and such.
If for any reason, you don't want that to be syncing in that particular moment, only thing you can do is hold down power button and turn AIRPLANE MODE ON. That'd suspend all incoming and outgoing communications.
I was just there today... XD

What happens when you turn off the radios or put it into airplane mode?

Have you tried shutting off every sync item one-by-one? Might give some insight into what's "stuck".
