how can I type a "|"
"|" being a vertical line on a standard keyboard it is shift+

top row 3rd from the left

maybe the canadian version is different.
there is a '?12' key, but no '?123'
ans no 'alt' key, although there is a '1/2' key that goes to a second page of characters.
and the top row is: % ~ [euro] [yen] [pound] [ ] { } no '|'
