Hissing / White Noise

I got my shuffle a couple of weeks ago, and have had it replaced twice as i can hear a hissing sound whenever the unit is powered on via the headphones. I mainly use my Shure E2c's, but the noise is evident from the white Apple earphones as well. As the sound is emitted whenever the unit it powered on even during pause it can't be the quality of the music.

Does anyone else have a problem?

if not what earphones are you using?

Ya i notice this too with my shuffle. I think its just not a high quality amp. I use a pair of custom ultimate ear monitors and the hissing is really noticeable. Same thing on my 5th gen iPod. However my iPhone provides really clear sound. I think they shuffle just has a weak amp...

Really disappointing - you expect quality for the price. my friend bought a 'generic mp4' player from ebay; no hissing, silence when on pause - I don't know why apple uses such low quality components.

I did wonder if it was something to do with the shuffle charging via the headphone jack?

It sounds like your computer is blue screening. If you disable automatic restart you will be able to see the error message and further diagnose from there. To disable automatic restart please:
* Click Start
* Click Control Panel, sometimes found under Settings
* Click System Properties
* Click the Advanced tab
* Click Settings under the heading Startup and Recovery
* Untick Automatically Restart under the heading System failure

Hope this helps.
