Question about
Hinge starting to seize up.
The notebook is out of warranty, and one hinge is starting to seize up. Is there an easy/cheap way to replace it without damaging the screen?
From my experience replacing a hinge is a helluva work, usually involving taking out the entire base chassis, and then you'll also need to find the hinge parts which are usually rare. How bad is it anyway?

One thing to look at is can you see the hinge rod? If so, a small ( I cannot emphasize this enough, SMALL ) spray of WD-40 will allow most mechanical parts to move well without sticking.
