Question about

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience with the Zotac ZBox HD-ND02-U? It's a little dual-core Atom box with Ion graphics, 2 204-pin SODIMM slots, HDMI out, Optical Toslink out, integrated b/g/n and gigabit ethernet. Like the other ZBox models, you bring RAM, HDD and OS to the party. I was thinking of using this box with XP and Boxee (Someone convince me to use something other than XP if you think it necessary--so far it seems to do better at running Boxee than 7 does.) and strapping the ZBox to the back of my television using the VESA mount that's included.

I guess my question comes down to ability. I've stuffed a dead laptop mainboard into an old DVD player chassis and am using that as my HTPC in the bedroom. It suffers from onboard Intel video and really chokes when playing full screen movies in Netflix streaming, even at 720p. At 1080p it's unwatchable. I'd like to know if the Nvidia Ion graphics are capable of streaming Flash/Silverlight/MPEG over my LAN or the internet in full 1080p without the stutters and spasms I'm seeing now. Has anyone used these for their HTPCs or Media Center Extenders?

Thanks!

Though I don't have a Zotac ZBox, I've been running an ASRock ION 330 for the past year and a half, which is pretty much the same specs, though it came with RAM and HDD.

I've got Windows 7 on it, and through Windows Media Center watch 720p/1080p content all the time. Once in a blue moon I run into a little stutter but that's rare. I also launch Boxee through the Media Center interface (so I never have to put down my Logitech Harmony remote).
