HD RADIO PROBLEM

I think I am having a problem because I am an idiot. BUT, I can not get any HD radio stations to come up on my Zune HD. I leave in Dallas Fort Worth, so I know we have plenty. What could I be doing wrong?

I live in DFW area and can pickup 102.1 the Edge HD stations with no problem. They broadcast HD1 and HD2. Tune to 102.1 and leave it there for about 30 seconds and the stations should come in.

I've had a problem with the HD Radio also. When I do tune one in for more that a couple of seconds, the Zune locks up and I have to power cycle it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Alright I tried 102.1 and nothing is coming up. Waited about 5 minutes. So I guess there is no way I could of changed a setting so that these wouldn't show up? I don't know whats going on here.

So I bought the Zune HD today and have noticed that while listening to the radio (reception is good) and I power off the unit. The screen goes black, giving the impression that it's turned off but in reality the radio is still playing.

It only actually powers off completely when I remove the headphone jack. Something that is going to get old real quick.

Anyone else having this problem?

If you look at the wikipedia article on HD radio you will see that HD radio has generally poor reception due to a weaker signal among other things. I can only get HD stations outside or in my car, unless I am in or near the center of town. If i am inside, it's VERY spotty reception.

ya, my roommate said he could only get HD reception (also in Dallas) if he hung the headphones (antenna) over his windshield...

it appears HD radio needs more repeaters just like Sirius does...

I had this happen briefly along with some other problems once(none of the buttons to control the hd radio would respond to touch input). Restarting the Zune fixed it and it hasn't happened again. Try holding down on the power button for 10 seconds(it'll have a thing to pull down to shut down after about 3-5 seconds, just ignore it and keep holding down on the power). See if restarting fixes it.

OKAY problem solved. I was not using the headphones that came with the ZUNE HD. As soon as I plugged those in the HD channels came up instantly. So does anyone know of headphones that are semi-descent and work well for getting radio reception?

Yeah I had the premium zune headphones until my cats chewed through them. My headphones that did not work are the 30 dollar sony in ear bud head phones. So I am not sure. But maybe I will track down a pair of some zune premium, I liked those.
