I was having horrible performance issues with OS X Lion and the Drobo 2nd Gen. I abandoned the Drobo and used another interim solution. Drobo released firmware version 1.4.1 on 10/25/11 (drobo.com/support/updates/firmware/Release_Notes_F...). I gave it another shot and updated the firmware on the Drobo.
Bottom line, Firewire 800 performance on the Drobo is back to pre-Lion upgrade performance. If you are having issues, upgrade your firmware.

This is great news. My drobo (2nd Gen) has been having horrible problems since upgrading to Lion. Doing the upgrade now.
