Question about
Have you used "Whited00r" on an old iOS device?
Apple (and many other hardware manufacturers) often leave their early adopters and those using older hardware behind when they push out new operating system updates. One particularly sore point is with mobile devices.
Those still using the original iPhone or iPhone 3G cannot run the latest builds of iOS 4 (and soon, iOS 5). However, there is apparently an option for those of you yearning for new software. It's a custom firmware build called Whited00r. I've actually never heard of it until I just stumbled across a Lifehacker post today.
Have you installed it? What is your experience with it?

I have an old retired 1st gen iPhone with busted glass. I left it running 3.??? and jailbroke it so I could actually use it. It still functions perfectly well as our music remote and the kids can take pictures with it. I'd much rather get those uses out of it than make myself crazy trying to get it to be more modern. I've gotten burned out over the years of spending countless hours of my time trying to update things beyond their usefulness with custom firmwares. I would rather just accept the limitations and find uses within those... or send them to Gazelle.com.

Yes, on a first gen iPhone. It was pretty much useless and most of the promised features did not function properly.

I installed it and worked fine, some of the features you can download it on any jailbreak phone, this package is just easier, its worth to try if you have the time.
