Have you ever heard or seen AMOLED screen burn in?

I've been hearing a few reports from folks who claim that their AMOLED displays have suffered screen burn in after a particularly intense gaming session. I've yet to see evidence of this myself though.

So, is this actually a thing?! Have you ever seem this on an AMOLED equipped mobile phone?

I'd like to know about this as well for my future purchases. Currently have a Venue Pro that has OLED, and even though I leave it on for a very long time that could possibly cause "burn ins", I haven't seen it happening so far.

I've had three devices with AMOLED screens, and have "gamed" (I refer to Android gaming with any seriousness) for extensive times on all of them and never ever saw burn in.

On any of my personal devices, I have seen only temporary AMOLED burn-in. It was particularly nasty on my Galaxy S II. The burn-ins usually disappeared after around 30 minutes after I first noticed them.

On the other hand, I saw a Motorola DROID RAZR on display at a store, and it had terrible burn-in, particularly in the icon dock region and the top notification bar. The display on that device must have been on for like 10 hours a day showing the same home-screen.

Back when I had my Nexus One, the AMOLED screen actually burned in (notification bar) and it got really annoying especially when my phone is in the horizontal position. So yes, it's definitely a real issue but I'm not sure if it's an issue with newer phones with better displays.

Newer OLED screens can take more wear and tear than the old ones on say, the nexus one. My galaxy nexus does show some burn in after only 1 month of use. I can see outlines of keyboard keys and app icons on the screen on solid bright backgrounds. Don't really notice unless I try really hard to.

My Galaxy Nexus has burn-in...I'd like to blame someone, but there's just me here ;) I used a desk clock app when my phone is docked, and the 88:88 is burned in... sigh
