Has anyone used these as media extenders for Live/recorded TV via their HTPC running Windows Media Center?

I'm probably going to grab a HDHomerun Prime when, or I should say if, they get released and would love to fully utilize it in other rooms. The 360 seems like a viable option and cheaper option than even most atom or ion based PC's. Just wanted to know what people's experience has been with it.

Haven't used it for live TV, but I've used it for streaming video from the internet and from my PC. Works perfectly.

The big drawback for me is that you can't do netflix without an xbox live subscription. Were it not for that I'd probably get one.

The 360 will allow you to share protected recordings as well as live tv. Other PCs/Media Centers will not be able to access protected content.

I just purchased a new Xbox 360 for the sole purpose of being a media center extender. It has been a little quirky but overall it has been a real joy. Live tv even in HD works really well, and when I installed Divx on the MCE i can play all the MKV files i have ever wanted on the Xbox. I made this move because cable comps are becoming very strict with copyright protections. The xbox is a way around this difficulty.

I use XBoxes as media center extenders throughout a few rooms in my house. They work great - but I have a comment about the new XBox. I replaced the original XBox I had in my main room this week with a new XBox to reduce the noise. It works perfectly fine - however, I am noticing a serious degradation in playing back videos (not recordedTV videos) stored on my media center through the XBox. What are beautifully captured AVIs and H264s, now appear noticeably pixelated and choppy. Videos I record with the media center cable card tuner still look great, however.
