Question about
Harmony One activity startup slow/unresponsive
It is always slow to start up new activities and I understand this as it takes the TV a moment to start up and switching TV/receiver inputs needs to wait for the power cycles. But for me, sometimes it takes over 30 seconds to gain control of the remote, even when the activity is running on all devices. This happens frequently for me. Is this common or is it just me? Is there a possibility this could be fixed w/ a firmware update?

Sounds like you have your delays configured incorrectly and/or you have too many devices in your activity. From the Devices tab, click "Settings" each of your devices and choose "Adjust the delays (speed settings)". From here you can adjust how long the remote waits in certain scenarios. You probably need to adjust the Power On Delay (the amount of time the remote waits for the device to power up before sending it commands) or the Inter-Device Delay.
If you're only seeing this on Activity startup, it's most likely the power on delay. For my setup, I have my TV set to the default of 3000 milliseconds but actually had to increase my AV receiver's delay to 5000 milliseconds because it takes a bit longer to start before it will accept commands.
Play around with startup delay times to see if you can reduce how long your activity startup takes. Also, consider how many devices you have associated with an activity and decide if you really need all of those devices. Finally, you might consider changing the power settings of some devices to leave them always-on (I have my DVR setup as always on because I don't ever want it to shut off, and I have my Xbox 360 and PS3 set to always on because I don't want them to shut off if I switch back and forth between different activities).
