Got a burning question about the HTC EVO 4G? Well, I've got one and I'll be answering as many of your questions as I can!

So far, my first impressions are that thing is a totally epic device and a very worthy successor to the HD2, and in terms of its sheer capabilities, it clearly rivals or exceeds any best of breed device out today. But the features, power, and speed come with a cost: the EVO is one of the largest, heftiest handsets I've used in a while, and I wouldn't be surprised if some people felt it was a bit excessive -- especially once you've played with the incredibly svelte Nexus One.

Anyhow, a couple things to note: in-depth battery testing can take a couple of days, so you're probably best off getting the number from one of the EVO reviews out there right now. Also, I'm in SF (which is not a 4G market -- yet!) so I can't speak to the WiMAX data speeds on this thing. For both battery numbers and data speeds, I recommend Engadget's review (naturally): www.engadget.com/2010/05/19/htc-evo-4g-review/

If you were on a family plan and got the Evo, and added the WiMax fee, then the other person in your family plan got the Evo and wanted WiMax, would you need to tack on another extra 30 dollars, or is it already covered? (Same Q with hotspot service) NOTE: The family plan is an Everything plan.

So far is the device snappy and responsive? Have you had any lag issues? I am seriously considering upgrading from Sprint Launch Pre (800mhz patched), I'm just tryin to cover all my bases first ha!

After the engadget review, my biggest concern about this phone is the size. How "pocketable" is this thing?

I'd actually thought I'd get the N1 on Sprint until that was cancelled. I love what I read, I just don't want something I can't carry in my front pocket.

Put these in order of what you think the best smartphone is on the market now with this release: Nexus One, Droid, Droid Incredible, Evo, iPhone3G

Might be a silly question, but is it possible to buy just the phone and go on a monthly plan with Sprint or will they only sell it subsidized?

I want an Evo, but do I need to wait to see what Apple is going to come out with? I've never owned an iPhone, or iPod, but I'll only jump ship on Android if there is something simply amazing that Apple debuts. What are the odds of that?

The EVO sounds awesome, but what's your opinion on Android's app size limit? It seems like it is unnecessarily holding back app possibilities and allowing iPhone to have more dazzling apps.

EVO has a front-facing camera (and next iPhone likely will too)... Have you had a chance to use it? Do you think that's a fad or the future?

Ryan, do you think HTC or Sprint will lag in getting Froyo to the EVO since the release dates shouldn't be too far off from eachother?

I have yet to find a device as responsive to the touch as iPhone/iPad (e.g. Smooth scrolling across screens). Are you seeing any lag on the Evo when scrolling?

How's the screen, specifically in comparison to the HD2? I understand that the actual panel in use should be the same, but Android offers 16 million colors whereas Windows Mobile artificially imposes that 65k limit. Usually this isn't seen to be a big deal except in the display of gradients, but I was wondering if there may have been improvements in the way of sunlight legibility (a factor of the HD2 I am not at all pleased with).

I have a question. I also have the evo and when I set-up my Exchange server for my work email on the phone and reboot it, it will loop at the sprint 4g start-up screen. I have to reboot holding the power+volume key down and reformat the phone. Only happens when I set-up exchange. Have you tried setting up exchange server?

Sorry if this is more Android specific than EVO specific, but I have not yet used Android. I am currently on a Pre, and one of the killer features is Synergy. If I have both Google Calendars and an Exchange calendar, can I sync both with the EVO? Also, how does the EVO handle contacts from different sources?

Ryan, I got one question for you. Is it smooth like the iPhone? I have both an iPhone and a Nexus One and, to me, at least, iPhone is far better as far as the smoothness of the user experience goes. For instance, Android jerks when you scroll the screen, while iPhone is as smooth as butter.

Has EVO overcome this problem?

Do you think devices with the EVO 4G form factor will be the way of the future? For me, the reason why I like hardware keyboards is that the tactile feel that makes it easier for me to blind type. The issue I have with soft keyboards is that the keys are small and lack tactile feel. Haptic feedback does help but not much.

With devices like the EVO 4G and the Dell Streak, having a larger screen would make it much easier to type as hitting the keys would be much easier.

What do you guys think?

Even before the new iPhone came out I was wondering what the pixel density is like on the Evo 4G. With phones reaching into the 5" territory I would really like to see them up the resolutions to squeeze out just a bit more screen real estate, as well as sharper looking text and images. The much larger screen on the Evo makes it seem a prime candidate for a hike in resolution that it doesn't get. My real question is whether or not it seems to detract from the overall quality of the screen in daily use of the device or if it isn't very noticeable at all.
