Question about
Gevey SIM users - Can iOS 5 be used on the iPhone 4 by a custom Sn0wbreeze firmware?
To my understanding, the problem with upgrading to iOS 5 on an iPhone 4 with the Gevey SIM is that it updates the baseband to 04.11.06 which blocks the 112 exploit utilized by the Gevey. The Gevey claims it's only compatible with iOS 4 and not iOS 5 but I think what they really mean is that it's compatible with only basebands 02.10.04, 03.10.01, and 04.10.01 (found in iOS 4). So by using Sn0wbreeze to create a custom firmware maintaining the lower iOS 4 baseband, I should be able to upgrade to iOS 5?
Sn0wbreeze, while it may preserve baseband, does NOT jailbreak your iDevice. At the moment, the iDevices are only semi-tethered and not un-tethered. so unless you would want to plug your device into your computer every time it reboots, i would wait for an untethered jailbreak. by the way, if you want more about jailbreaking stuff check out my blog: everythingontech.blogspot.com/
