Gaming on 27" iMac

I was wondering if this is also a good pc for gaming. I don't want to play everything on high settings but just some gaming on a medium/high settings would be nice. I know apple isn't made for gaming but after getting my frist MacBook some years ago I'm convinced OS X is just the best os out there.
Also is there a big difference gaming wise between the two 27" systems?

Thanks in advance

I'm on a Core i7 27" with the AMD 6970, and I'm able to run Starcraft 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Civilization 5 all at the highest settings and highest resolution without a hitch at all. It really looks fantastic, and I'd imagine that even if you didn't get the BTO iMac you'd still be able to run at high or a combination of medium/high settings without an issue. The bigger issue for gaming on a Mac platform is the availability of games, which isn't as good as Windows, but is getting much better with Steam and a few other games in the App Store.

I am able to play World of Warcraft on High settings at full resolution. I have the 2011 i5 Core with the AMD 6770 which is the mid-grade iMac, the fully upgradeable 27" iMac has an AMD 6970 which is fantastic.
