I just got Cablevision's Optimum Online Ultra service with blazing fast speeds of up to 101 Mb/s. If I connect my computer directly to the cable modem, I get the full speed if not more.
However, when I place this router in the middle of my computer and modem, I get on average 35 Mb/s. Sometimes, I get 47 Mb/s. And only once did I see it go to 101 Mb/s but it dropped immediately back down to 35 Mb/s. So I know the router is capable of transferring those speeds, but the question is how to sustain those speeds.
I updated to the latest firmware and troubleshooted with Belkin's support. Belkin's support says that I can return the modem for another one, but before I do that, I want to make sure the problem isn't something I'm doing or no doing - or else I am just wasting time returning this router.
I know little about networking. I was told that have the wireless turned on should not cause the slower speeds. Just to be sure, I disabled the wireless and still the same slow speeds.
I used www.speedtest.net to test my connection. I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit computer.
thanks in advance!!
