Question about
Freezing
I'm having intermittent freezing problems with this laptop. I have the Core i7 with Win7Pro. I have pretty much all of the unnecessary services disabled but it still seems to be just freezing in the middle of the day. It's not BSOD, just a cold stop.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Depends what the issue is. Does the BSOD mention "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT"? If so you may be in the same boat I was with bad RAM. Run the built in diagnostics and see if it is a hardware issue.

CPU throttling is freezing the laptop. Get in touch with Dell.

I am having the same issues. I have had a dell xps 16 i7 7pro for 4 months or so, and it is constantly freezing. I have already had the motherboard, fan, and heat sink replaced and the problem still persists. Also, I know this is a high performance machine, but the temperature on the machine regularly soars above 90F, the stickers in the bottom of the laptop are melting off! I have spoke with Dell countless times about this, they are very hard to communicate with, and do not follow through as promised. All diagnostics have been ran (and all come up normal with no detectable problems). From my own experiences and reading other people's posts, it really seems as though this is a faulty product. I would really hesiatate to purchase this laptop!

I talked to Dell a number of times and frankly they were no help. The only thing they suggested was to turn off some services. I did not push hardware replacements like bdawg went through but instead did a complete reinstall of windows from a fresh copy. I did not install any of the Dell software that came with this laptop and I'm all fine. I have not had any freezes since then. It must be a software/crapware or driver that Dell installs on this machine by default. Hope this helps.
