Freewheel Mode No Longer Frictionless

Subject line describes my problem. It's out of warranty, so Logitech won't replace it. Is this a user-fixable issue?

A bit late, but I've got this now as well.

In my case, it's caused by the rubber inlay on the wheel becoming loose, and then expanding/stretching so that it rubs against the bottom of the well that the mouse wheel rests in. Noticed this 10 days before the warranty expires, so hopefully they'll replace it.

But if this is the same issue that you're having, several options are possible:

- remove/replace the rubber inlay (silicone might work well as a filler)
- re-adhere the inlay to the wheel
- increasing the amount of space between the inlay and the wheel well (might be possible to snip off a few extraneous pieces of the transparent plastic piece that holds the wheel)
