So I've finally gotten around to updating my PS3 to the 3.0 firmware release, despite the mediocre reviews and lukewarm community response. But hey, life on the bleeding edge right?

Anyway, I went through the update process and my PS3 started downloading the update. However, once it got to 61%, an error message popped up:

"An error occurred during the update operation. Contact technical support for assistance. (8002F155)"

That's fantastically descriptive. And now my PS3 was locked up. So I restarted it and went through the whole process again. Like clockwork, it locked up at 61%. Repeat this process a few more times and now I'm becoming frustrated because I think I've bricked my PS3. Finally, I call up the power of Google and go searching for help.

After digging around, someone suggested loading up the recovery menu. So I tried it and it ended up fixing the problem! Fantastic.

So, how the heck do you access the PlayStation recovery menu? I found it via the following website:

How to Access Playstation Recovery Menu

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

Anyway, hopefully that works for anyone else who might encounter this error.
