Question about
veronica

Finally moved it to my "Have" list!

I know you can set the focal rings to adjust other settings as well, does anyone have suggestions for what I should set this to? Any other tips would be appreciated as well.

Depends on the mode for me, but I usually shoot in aperture priority (Av), so I set the front ring around the lens to control the aperture and the ring on the back button controls exposure compensation.

Veronica, check out the custom grip available for the S90 - it makes it much much easier to hold and use one-handed. www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_s90

Also, if you search for "canon s90 grip" on Google, you'll find many reviews of this product that all praise it highly.

Aperture priority (Av) is probably the best mode because most people like the look of images with a shallow depth of field which is something you don't get out of other P&S cameras. In low light, though, you should set it to shutter priority (Tv) to make sure that your images won't appear as if a giant squid is shaking you around like a maraca.

I just did the same as you Veronica. I got mine for a trip to Italy. I didn't fancy carrying my D80 plus lenses etc with a 23 month old in tow as well :)
